When you confess your allegiance to Christ and live a godly life, you will be persecuted. Friends may turn their backs on you. You may lose favour at your place of work. But if you hold fast until the end, you will have an inheritance in Heaven that cannot spoil, everlasting life, and you will have praise of God.
The world can only offer you conditional love: You’ll have a job as long as you are useful, you’ll have friends as long as they can reap a benefit. The world is evil and will betray you. God is faithful and what He offers is everlasting upon everlasting.
Ask yourself today: Since I can’t please both, who do I want to please? Men or God?
